Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
This policy explains what personal information SoulTweaks ("we", "us"), the Australian business that makes Soul Tune, collects when you use the Soul Tune app, your Soul Tune account and the website soultune.cc, why we collect it, who handles it for us, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. The short version
We collect only what we need to run your account, enforce the one-PC rule and sell Premium. We do not sell your information, show you ads, or put tracking or analytics on the website or in the app. What Soul Tune changes on your PC, its logs and your undo history stay on your PC.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your password, which our server stores only as a salted PBKDF2 hash (100,000 rounds), never as the password itself.
- Your PC's hardware ID: three one-way scrambled (hashed) codes that Soul Tune makes on your PC from the motherboard's serial number, the firmware's UUID and Windows' machine ID. We never receive the serial numbers or IDs themselves. We also receive the PC's name as set in Windows, so we can tell you which PC has your account when another one signs in.
- Plan details: your plan (Free, Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime), your Polar licence key and when Polar last confirmed it.
- Account activity: when the account was made, signed in, locked to a PC or moved to another PC, password resets, purchases and plan changes, and failed sign-in attempts (to stop password guessing). Soul Tune also sends its version number when it checks your account.
- Payment details: Polar, our payment provider, collects your name, billing address and payment details when you buy a plan. We receive your email address, the plan and the licence key, never your card details.
- Messages: what you send us by email or on Discord when you ask for help, including any logs or screenshots you choose to share.
3. What we do not collect
Soul Tune does not send us your files, your browsing, the games you play, the settings it changes, its logs, your undo history or your system details beyond the hardware ID above. These stay on your PC (in C:\ProgramData\SoulTune and your local AppData folder) unless you choose to send them to us. The website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics. It keeps your website sign-in in your browser's session storage for up to an hour, and forgets it when you close the tab.
4. Why we use it
- To make and run your account, sign you in, and reset your password (we email you a code).
- To apply the one-PC rule: lock your account to one PC, let you move it, and stop accounts and licence keys being shared.
- To give you the Premium features you paid for, handle cancellations and refunds, and prevent fraud and chargebacks.
- To email you about your account and plan, such as price changes or changes to our terms. We do not send marketing emails unless you ask for them.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as tax and consumer law.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom: we rely on performing our contract with you (a to c, e), our legitimate interests in preventing account sharing and fraud (b, c), and legal obligations (f).
5. Who handles it for us
We use these service providers. Each handles your information only to provide its service:
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and our licence server and its database (the account details above).
- Polar (polar.sh): our merchant of record. It takes payments, charges tax, sends receipts, issues licence keys and processes refunds. Polar's privacy policy covers what it collects at checkout.
- Resend: sends our password-reset emails.
- GitHub: hosts Soul Tune's downloads and updates. When you download Soul Tune or the app checks for an update, GitHub receives your IP address and standard web request details.
- Google Fonts: the website loads its fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
- Discord: if you join our Discord, Discord's own terms and privacy policy apply.
When you ask Soul Tune to download software from its maker (for example, a graphics driver from NVIDIA or a tool from Microsoft), that download goes straight to the maker, under its privacy policy.
6. Where it is stored
These providers store and process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States, and on Cloudflare's worldwide network. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account details, hardware ID and account activity for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete these within 30 days, except records we must keep by law. Polar keeps payment records for as long as tax law requires. Support messages are kept for as long as they help us support you.
8. Security
Passwords are hashed, the hardware ID is hashed on your PC before it is sent, every connection uses HTTPS, and accounts are locked for 15 minutes after 10 wrong passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account, by emailing [email protected] from your account's email address. We reply within 30 days. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom you can also ask for a copy of your information in a portable format, and object to or ask us to limit how we use it. Deleting your account ends any Premium plan on it; cancel a subscription first so you are not charged again.
10. Children
Soul Tune is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to our terms for you.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au, or, in the European Union or the United Kingdom, to your local data protection authority.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always at soultune.cc/privacy.html with its date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will email you before it applies.
